Fires, Collisions and Other Events

On Wednesday, August 18, 2010, at 11:59 hours, the Bullhead City Fire Department responded to a residential fire on Gold Stake Road,
which appeared to have been started by an accidental cooking incident.  With eight units on scene, firefighters aggressively attacked
the fire from two sides with handlines.  The water supply was a concern due to the fact that there are no hydrants in the area
commonly known as Billy Goat Acres at Katherine's Landing.  The Water Tender Unit from Station One and the National Park Service Engine
shuttled water from a hydrant fifteen minutes away.  Fortunately there was very little wind that day.  The home and contents were a total loss.

Saturday, August 14, 2010, was the fourth annual Bullhead City River Regatta.
The Bullhead City Fire Department provided first aid and safety for the participants.
Two River Patrol Boats, three Ambulances, the First Aid trailer and a cooling
tent were available for any emergencies.  Approximately 10,000 people were in
attendance for this year's float.  Fire Department Ambulances transported seven people
with minor injuries and illnesses to local hospitals.

Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at 13:00 hours, two rescue ambulances and one ladder truck from
the Bullhead City Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle accident involving a pickup truck
pulling a trailer which collided with a motorcycle carrying two passengers.  Both passengers on the
motorcycle were seriously injured and two helicopters from Care Flight responded to transport
them to a Las Vegas hospital.  Traffic officers from the Bullhead City Police Department are
investigating to determine the cause of the accident.

Sunday, July 4th, 2010 at 20:24 hours, two ladder trucks, one fire engine and one rescue ambulance of Bullhead City
firefighters responded to a residential structure fire on Winkler Lane.  Arriving firefighters immediately began an
interior fire attack.  A simultaneous aggressive exterior attack was made from the rear of the residence.
The fire was contained to the rear of the single wide mobile home with smoke and heat damage throughout
the interior.  The resident and a friend were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.  The cause of the fire
was ruled accidental caused by unsafe usage of an outdoor barbeque.
